Another month come and gone and here we are back for another monthly update. A lot of watering goes on in the next couple months. All of our mum pots are planted and have filled any empty spaces that were created this spring. Before planting them we pinched them back to help promote more shoot development so they are nice and full come September. Watering this time of the year is extremely important as you do not want to over water. When the mum plant is extremely small like it is now it only takes up minimal water and therefore watering them every day in the pot size given is not the best idea. Typically we like to keep things dryer. This helps keep the risk of disease down, while also helping the plant maintain its short compact look throughout the year. Be sure to come in and look around and watch them grow.
As for other needs we still have plenty of selection on our annuals and have them at quite the deal! Every annual is now 50% off and the selection is vast. Still plenty of 4.5” annuals for all of the ones that didn’t make it or maybe you want to change it up. When we plant our baskets we be sure to space them out so come this time we have a nice selection that are not too over grown and look beautiful! July is a great month to buy extra flowers to spruce up any empty areas or to just come in and look around! If you are worried that your plants are too overgrown don’t be afraid to cut them back a little. Petunia’s, Calibrochas, Ivy, and Coleus are a few are ones that will thrive with a trim. This allows them to not only look better but it helps promote branching and flowering with helps the longevity of your plants!
Have a wonderful month of July and enjoy your flowers!
