FAQ
Q. Can we return our empty box?
A. Pahl Farms is USDA GAP Food Safety Certified and one of the requirements of this certification is to pack in clean, unused boxes to prevent microbial pathogens and/or cross contamination. We ask that you please recycle the share box on your own.
Q. Do I need to notify you if someone else is picking up my share?
A.No need to inform us of this, we will always send the share box in the contracted members name and whomever you designate to pick-up your share will simply give the member name and sign for the share box at your pick-up location.
Every week during CSA season, we’ll send you a newsletter containing what’s in your share box, recipes you can make with your produce, and other helpful information!
Once the season begins you’ll be able to find the most recent newsletter here.
Harvest Highlights: Week 15 CSA News & Updates
We’re almost at the end of the season, and this week marks the second-to-last share box of the year! As we wrap up, you’ll see a mix of familiar produce along with one new addition. This week, members will find either delicata or sweet dumpling squash, both of which are sweet and perfect for roasting or stuffing. Returning favorites include buttercup squash, which is great for hearty soups or simply roasted; eggplant, ideal for grilling, roasting, or making a comforting eggplant parmesan; potatoes, versatile for mashing, roasting, or potato salad; and crisp, sweet apples that are perfect for snacking or baking.
Additionally, members will find blush green bell peppers in their share boxes this week. They offer the best of both worlds, crisp and slightly sweet. These peppers are in the early stages of ripening, with a vibrant green base and hints of red blush starting to show. Perfect for stir-fries, salads, or grilling, they bring a fresh, mild flavor to your dishes. Enjoy the versatility and unique taste that blends the crunch of green peppers with the subtle sweetness of their riper counterparts.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the apple pick and pumpkin pick events this past weekend. It was wonderful to see the faces of our CSA members, and we hope everyone had a great time enjoying the beautiful fall weather. ‘Tis the season for apple, squash, and pumpkin desserts! Here are some of our favorites: Savory Squash Pie, Amish Apple Pie Streusel, Pumpkin Dip, Apple Pandowdy, Apple Fritter Rings, Pumpkin Spiced and Sugared Pumpkin Seeds, Pumpkin Pie Squares, Chunky Apple Cake.
As we near the close of the season, don’t forget to make the most of your share by trying new recipes or preserving some of the produce for later use. We hope you’re enjoying the bounty from this challenging growing season and finding ways to use each item. Thanks again for being part of the CSA this year. Next week will be the final box of the season, stay tuned for more details!
