CSA FAQ

Questions about our CSA Program.

MN Grown LogoWhat are the advantages of Pahl Farms CSA?
We have been providing farm fresh vegetables for the local community through our on-site farmers market and wholesale operation for over 50 years. With 6 generations of experience, we know what types of produce most people like on a regular basis.

In this age, people have become disconnected from their food source that is often more than a thousand miles away. This is a chance to connect with a family farm within the area. CSA members develop a relationship with the farmer who grows their food and will learn more about how their food is grown.

Research shows we can enhance our health by eating more vegetables. When you get a share each week, you will be inclined to eat more vegetables than if you had to go out and buy your vegetable supply each week.

Pahl Farms sows over 1000 acres of produce that is sustainably grown with minimal pesticide use and is USDA Harmonized GAP Food Safety certified.  We harvest our crops daily to ensure freshness.  Click here to read more about our sustainable agriculture practices.

CSA members that pay for their share with a one time full payment prior to March 31st receive a Pahl’s Market gift card!

How do I subscribe?
Visit the CSA sign up page or click on the ‘Become a Pahl Farms member’ link at the bottom of any informational page. Complete the contract and click submit contract to proceed to payment.

Can we split a share with someone else?
Yes, but the share needs to be in our database under one name.  We will email the weekly newsletters to all parties involved. We will not be able to split the share for you so it will have to be split at your own discretion after picking up your share.

Some people split the share after pick-up or you can go one week and your friend the next. When you sign-up, please make sure to include the e-mail addresses of those who want to receive the newsletters and updates.

Can we cancel our share part way through the season?
You make a commitment to us by signing up as a CSA member. We plan our garden and season taking each of you into account, therefore we cannot allow for cancellations part way through the season.

Picking up your CSA Share?
We have several convenient pick up locations throughout the Twin Cities area.  Click here for the complete list of pick up sites.  You will receive your share in a Pahl Farms produce box that you can take with you.  If you are unable to pick up your share box, we ask that you have a designated party pick up that week’s share. You will be asked to sign our pick up sheet once you’ve received your share box.

How do I communicate my feedback with the farmers?
We will be communicating with all CSA members weekly via email to let them know what to expect in their share boxes, how the crops are doing and what kind of successes and challenges the past week presented. We will post blogs, YouTube videos and Facebook updates with vegetable preparation techniques and fun new recipes to try. We will provide a forum for our members to share ideas and provide us with feedback on their share boxes and experiences. If you receive something in your share box you normally wouldn’t purchase you will have access to ideas on how to enjoy the new treat. Don’t be afraid to try new vegetables!

How much/what kind of produce do I get in my share?
You will receive a Pahl Farms produce box each week. The Family Share is a bushel, the Standard Share is a half bushel and the Teaser Share is a 12 quart box. You can expect to receive whatever is at peak harvest for that week’s share. Visit our produce availability page to see the diversity of vegetables and our recipe page to get ideas of how to prepare them.
