Hi Dee,
Since last summer sometime we have a rabbit living under our deck and my plants and flowers really suffered. I tried different powders and such that my local nursery sold to try and keep them from eating everything. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a certain pot size I should use ie: 14″? Do you have pre-started plants? If so when is a good time to come and purchase them? How many plants to a pot? Thanks for your help.
Dear Julie,
This is a common complaint, and I’ve heard of many different solutions. Unfortunately, none of them works for everyone! We’ve had rabbits living happily under our shed in the corner of our back yard for years now. The most effective thing for me was to put up that fine mesh fencing, that they can’t go through. It discourages the little bunnies, and by the time they are bigger, they seem to have lost interest. Many people have had experience with rabbits eating the fresh new shoots (they must taste really good) and when their plants mature, the rabbits leave them alone. We do have a spray that several of our employees have had good luck with, although I know you mentioned that you’ve tried things like that. It has a particularly nasty smell, and it seems to work, but it must be re-applied after a rain. Hope some of this helps!
Dee
